Cosmetic Dentistry

We want you to look your best!  We provide bleaching, bonding and porcelain veneers to whiten, cover defects, reshape or close gaps.  Minor changes can make a huge difference in your smile and your confidence!  Ask us what we can do to improve your smile.

Bleaching

This lightens the external surface of the tooth using a whitening agent called carbamide peroxide.  This comes in a variety of strengths, but we have found that the higher the strength, the more exaggerated the sensitivity.  We will make a custom tray for home use, which allows you to control the speed and intensity of the whitening process.

Bonding

This is simply a white filling used on front teeth to resurface them esthetically.  We can reshape the edges, close gaps or cover unsightly spotting and staining.

Porcelain Veneers

This is the most esthetic choice to acheive the "Hollywood smile".

Tooth Restoration

Fillings

This is one of the more common procedures in the office.  We exclusively do white fillings - you can see the difference in our before and after photos.  Once the cavity or old filling is removed the composite is bonded in place, shaped and polished.  The result is a beautiful restoration that looks like your natural tooth!

Crowns

When a tooth is broken down extensively there isn't enough tooth structure remaining to hold a filling in.  In this case, a crown is the appropriate restoration.  The crown (or cap) goes over the tooth to protect it on all sides.  It is cemented in place and can provide many years of reliable service.

Root Canal Therapy

Just the mention of this will make most people terrified.  It gets a pretty bad reputation and is the subject of a lot of "dental torture jokes".  Usually, though, a root canal actually gets people out of pain.  It is required when the inside of the tooth gets infected and the nerve starts to die.  The root canal is the process of cleaning, shaping, disinfecting and filling the inside of the tooth.  While it sounds bad, when you are in terrible pain, a root canal can help return your mouth to normal!

Tooth Replacement

Implants

This is the best option for replacing a missing tooth, as the final result feels most like the original.  This is the cutting edge of dentistry and implants have become a very predictable and reliable restoration.  There are three main parts to an implant:  the implant body (surgically placed in the jaw), the crown and the abutment (which attaches the crown to the implant).  There are a variety of procedures and techniques used for this and I would encourage you to discuss this with me if you are interested.

Bridges

A bridge is simply three (or more) crowns made as one piece to replace a missing tooth.  The bridge is also cemented like the crown, but attaches to the teeth on either side of the space.  This is a very good treatment option for people who want a permanent replacement without having to take a denture in and out.

Dentures and Partial Dentures

This is the most affordable replacement for multiple missing teeth.  Both come in and out of your mouth and need to be cleaned daily.  Partials connect to the natural teeth.  For loose fitting dentures, implants can be added to increase  retention and ensure a tighter fit.
